A debate regarding using DongZhi冬至 as a demarcation of new year, which is supposing to be LiChun立春 (Part 4)
Once we understand the difference between the various starting points of the year, we will notice that we don’t have any starting point in fact. This is because our Earth is constantly rotating, so there is no beginning or an end.
Let me ask you a very simple question, if one was born right at the Greenwich Line, how can you determine his 4-pillars chart? If this Greenwich line is moved to China, then our time zones will be totally changed.
Hence, using Winter solstice or Start of spring method is not the key element here. Instead focusing on this debate, you should pay more attention to the accuracy of your 4-pillars prediction. Once your skill in chart reading reached a high level of accuracy, you can automatically answer which start point to use.
The following 12 charts are good examples to test your accuracy in chart reading. All of them contain the same month, day and time pillars, while there are 2 sets of six charts contain the same year TinGon天干. If you can clearly distinguish the differences between them, then you have reached the first step in 4-pillars, which we call “Confirmed the client’s chart 定盤”.
