My Feng Shui researches 16 - Po Lin Monastery寶蓮寺There was an accident happened in July 22, 1973, a bus was fell down to the valley in Keung Shan羗山 road which is the main road to Po Lin Monastery 寶蓮寺. This accident caused 17 people died and 23 people injured.
The reason that I could remember is during that moment, I already starting to learn the Chinese metaphysic and I always claimed up to the mountains in Hong Kong.
Around three weeks later after this accident, I claimed up to the Lantau peak大嶼山 (934M height) to see the sun rise and observed how the dragon running from the Kowloon to Hong Kong. (It is the second higher mountain in Hong Kong which is the best spot to do this research.) I started this journey from the Shek Pik 石壁水塘reservoir where is the bottom of the mountain.
I followed the bus route to walk up to the Po Lin Monastery寶蓮寺, when I walked to the half of my way near a curve, I saw some coins on the ground (in Chinese culture, we would throw some coins on the ground to let the death people easily to reincarnation during the ceremony.), and I realized that was the scene of the bus accident. I stayed for a little moment to observe the environment and than continued my journey. I walked few hours and reached Po Lin Monastery 寶蓮寺at night. I camped at the park that was the starting point to the peak. I woke up at 3am and started to climb up to the mountain because I needed to reach the peak before 6am, otherwise I could not see the sunrise.
When I closed to the peak, the little rain made the road slipping and thunders were across over my head, I moved carefully with a scare. Fortunately I was safe to the peak, the thunder and rain were stop and the sky became clear. The Sun rose with its golden color and the scene I never forgot in my life.
If you never up to the peak, you never know how important of the Lantau Island for Hong Kong. I always told my Feng Shui students that a good Feng Shui master needs to have iron legs鐵腳, horse eyes馬眼 and immortal’s stomach神仙肚.
Considered of the future of Po Lin Monastery寶蓮寺, the monks got the approval to build a big Buddha on Muk Yue Fung木魚峰 in 1974. The big Buddha was started its construction in 1990 and finished in 1993. The face of the Buddha was advised by a Feng Shui master, Master Choi. Because of my friend was one of the members of the Buddha’s advice group. I got a chance to do some research during the construction period.
As what I wrote in other articles, since Buddhism was spread out in China, there were many people believed in it but few of them success to become as a Buddha because a lot of people lacked of practice.
To fully understand Buddhism, we need to go through four steps: - Belief (faith), Understanding, Practice, and Proof.
Once you get into the Po Lin Monastery 寶蓮寺, this 4 words were clear shown on a stone closed to the main temple. I guess the founder used it to remind every monk followed these steps.
These steps are not only for Buddhism, it also suitable for any kinds of learning, especially for Feng Shui. If you are following these steps, you should be soon to become as a good Feng Shui practitioner.
