My Feng Shui researches 10 - Master Chan Chuen陳摶

If you want to be good in Feng Shui and other metaphysics, more or less you need to understand about some of the Chinese culture.

Since Chinese metaphysic gave an impact for the public that it can change our fortune if we can manage it, which is totally against the God’s wish. Therefore a lot of people were interested in it.
From time to time there are some researchers getting good results in their studies, they don’t want their discoveries lost after they died. Most of them would choose to write a book to left that important information for the new learners. Since their names were not known by the public which would affect their books’ circulation, therefore they preferred to put a famous master’s name instead of their names as the author to attract more readers. Then their contributions would not be wasted.
On the other hands, the government did not want the public learning these kinds of knowledge, instead of stopping them to learn, they published some fake metaphysic books under the famous masters’ name to confuse the public. Once the real knowledge combined with the fake knowledge, then the public was not easy to separate them which make them confusing, the end results were it could not get 100% accurate in metaphysic. The public was starting not fully believed in it. The government did not need to prevent the public to learn but the public will automatic stop to learn.
With the reverse, the metaphysic learners nowadays want to become as expects by the short cut way, they are only focus to make more money without mature research background. Some masters will use the dirty way to promote themselves, such as change the original author’s name to their own name to publish some books, or paid for some writers to write some metaphysic books and articles for them to improve the fame.
Especially in the internet century, my articles always stole by some masters and they put them on their website without my name and link. This implied the public that the articles were written by them.
Those kinds of doing were not ethical because it prevents the new learners to trace the true and it’s original. It also makes some scholars hard to do a research in its development history.
Today the master that I want to introduce was the one who has a lot of books attached under his names. His name was Master Chan Chuen陳摶( 871 – 989). He was a Taoist in original. Because of his deep knowledge in I Ching plus he was a friend of the King, Chiu Hong Yan. Many rich people and power people liked to make friends with him; they invited him as a guest to stay in their house. If he could stay, then the rich people and power people would have a glory feeling. Some rich people even built a house for him as a gift. He named one of his houses as Happy and Peaceful house in Lok Yeung. Since he was so famous, therefore many metaphysic books were published under his name to increase its circulation. Master Chan Chuen became as the Expert or founder for all kinds of metaphysics.
Everyone in metaphysic field would like to have a chance to research his history, we are no exception. I went with my students to Lok Yeung and we visited the dragon door to watch his calligraphy, but very disappointed, I don’t think the calligraphy was written by him under my knowledge of Chinese calligraphy. I did a research after I came back and proved that I am right. The calligraphy was written on Ming dynasty.



I told my students that we always need to prove what we have learnt on field, otherwise it may be the fake knowledge that we though it was true. If we continue to teach this fake knowledge to the public, we will build up a bad karma for ourselves and destroy our previous master’s contribution by our hand. How can we face our previous masters after we died?
